Agfest 2017

Agfest 2017

The best weather we have had for a long time, only couple showers on Sat. Our main displays were Tractors, down on previous years, Engines, Mowers, Tool displays and many Chainsaws. All arranged in our compounds for the public to see, hear running and smoking. Engines ranged in all sizes and shapes, bigger ones from our “Old Bits N Pieces” mates from South, many thanks for your big input this year, as always. No Steam Engines this year, as Mr Boon’s engine is at the engine Doctor, annual check up and rebuild. So the hay baling was done with a bit more noise, being driven by Phils “Mogul”, which we finally achieved when we could keep the belts on and running the right direction.
This activity created lots of interest with the public, all watching on as we toiled. Tractor parades were well received, with the younger generation making good comments, lots of photos taken, we have yet to get some of these.
The southern guys, namely Briggs, Father n Son, had picked up a Massey Ferguson 35x that had not been started at least 20 years. With perseverance, possibly some sweat, it did run, however, not real sweet, ran like an irrigation sprayer. Later, head was the fault, removed, new head obtained, fitted, tractor ran almost like new, top stuff guys. We wait to see same tractor next year, will be very different I’m sure.
As usual, our accommodation, meals etc at Bishopsbourne excelled again. Many thanks to Verdette, Max and crew again for the way they always look after us, always a highlight with us, many thanks again.
Also many thanks to James Perry, for the professional treatment given us on “The Heritage Site”. Don’t know when he slept, was on the go, full boot all weekend, plus before hand, getting things ready. Many thanks again James, a great effort.
So, this year is gone now, lets work together the get more members attending and involved, it is a great event for Tassie, as well as promoting our great “Hobby”. Looking forward to next year and any events we have between, lets all promote what we do and have heaps of fun doing so. Cheers to all members, good health to all.
